1. From the lobby, select your profile in the top right corner.

2. Click the gear icon to access Settings.

3. Click the speaker icon to open Audio settings.

4. Set ‘Music’ and ‘Dialogue’ to 0 to remove unnecessary background noise.

5. Enable ‘Visualize Sound Effects’ (this helps with on-screen indicators).
  1. Set ‘Audio Output Device’ to ‘Voicemeeter Aux Input’ (for PC users).
  2. Click ‘Subtitles Options’.


6. Enable ‘Subtitles’ to provide additional sound indicators.

7. Scroll down to ‘Voice Chat’ and select ‘Voice Chat Output Device’.

8. (For PC + Voicemeeter Users): Set ‘Output Device’ to ‘Cable Input (VB-Audio Virtual Cable)’.
  1. Not using Voice Chat? You can leave this setting off.

  1. Survival Tip: Fortnite features a large, open-world map. Setting Audio Radar’s sensitivity to medium-to-high ensures you don’t miss distant gunfire while still detecting nearby footsteps.

Pro Tip: Use the three-zone sensitivity dials (right side of the Command Center) to control front, side, and rear sound detection, allowing you to quickly track enemy locations based on movement and combat sounds.

Enter a Creative Sound Map:
  1. Find a Creative Mode sound map to test footsteps, gunfire, and movement cues in a controlled environment before jumping into Battle Royale.
Use Visualized Sounds for Cross-Reference:
  1. If ‘Visualize Sound Effects’ is enabled, you’ll see on-screen directional indicators in addition to Audio Radar’s light bars, helping you train your awareness.
Iterate on Settings:
  1. Make incremental changes based on your experience in the practice match.
  2. If distant gunfire overwhelms the radar, turn sensitivity down slightly.
  3. If footsteps aren’t detected early enough, raise sensitivity for faster tracking.
