Configure Audio Radar for Rust

Fine-Tune Sensitivity for Large Open-World Survival
  1. Rust features large, unpredictable environments with long-range gunfights and sneaky ambushes. Set Audio Radar’s sensitivity to mid-to-high for early sound detection while avoiding false positives from your own movement.
Idea
Pro Tip: Adjust Sensitivity
Use the three-zone sensitivity dials (right side of the Command Center) to control front, side, and rear sound detection, ensuring you catch distant gunfire and enemy movement before they get too close.
  1. Increase sensitivity in open terrain to detect gunshots, explosions, and vehicle movement.
  2. Lower sensitivity in close-quarters combat zones (compounds, caves, raid bases) to focus on footsteps and door interactions.

Testing & Best Practices

Run Around a Random Server:
  1. Adjust Audio Radar sensitivity while moving around to find the right balance.
  2. Lower sensitivity so your own footsteps don’t dominate the radar.
Focus on Critical Sounds:
  1. Key audio cues to prioritize in Rust:
    1. Footsteps – Detect enemy players sneaking up on you.
    2. Gunfire & Explosions – Identify raid locations & PvP fights from a distance.
    3. Events (Cargo Ship & Supply Drops) – Gain a tactical advantage by detecting early movements.
Iterate on Settings:
  1. Adjust sensitivity settings gradually based on experience.
  2. Identify if some sounds are overpowering others and fine-tune accordingly.
