Audio Radar comes standard with six light bars, providing visual cues for gaming soundscapes. For those looking to enhance their experience, a 7th individual light bar is available for purchase as an add-on. In this article, we'll explore the benefits of using a seventh light bar and explain how it integrates with games that use audio formats lower than 7.1 Surround Sound.
Why Add a Seventh Light Bar?
Adding a seventh light bar enhances sound accuracy using the center audio channel. This bar can be placed between or on top of the existing bars for standard displays. While it isn't essential, it can improve sound pinpointing, which is especially useful in first-person shooter games for locating enemies.
Simulating the center channel.
Even if a particular game doesn't use a center channel, the seventh bar will activate and enhance precision. Our latest firmware update allows Audio Radar to simulate a seventh light bar when the game doesn't use it.
Games that don't use the center channel: Games that use 7.1 Audio but don't use the center channel, such as PUBG, benefit significantly from this feature. Before relying on slight changes on the left and right bars, you can now pinpoint where the sound is coming from. This works by reading the data from the top left and right light bars and checking if they are equal. If they are, the center bar will activate.
Games that always use the center channel: The center bar is always used for games such as Warzone, which uses 7.1. The top left and top right light bars will dim when they detect equal levels, allowing you to pinpoint prominent sounds.
Do I Need a Seventh Light Bar?
Audio Radar was designed to use six light bars, the seventh of which is optional. If you're a casual gamer, you probably won't miss the extra precision. If you play competitively or want the most advantages, a seventh light bar is for you!
Tip
Customize the center light bar to have a different color so it really stands out. It'll be sure to grab your attention when you are ‘on target’!
